World Supersport 300 Saisonbeginn 2023 Lennox Lehmann

The start of the season in the World Supersport 300 was on the agenda for Lennox Lehmann in Assen. Just in time for the European season opener of WSBK, the smallest class of the world championship joined the current world championship at the TT Circuit Assen. The World Supersport 300 only competes in the races in Europe, which is intended to keep costs low for the teams and riders. The first stop in Europe also marks the start of the 2023 season for Lennox Lehmann.

Lennox Lehmann first weekend of the season

The first race weekend for Lennox Lehmann saw cold temperatures and changing conditions at Assen. Typical April weather, if you will. Or in other words, a challenge for motorcycle racers. To defy these conditions, a harder tire compound was offered. Due to the new tire compound and also the cool track temperature, the riders had to adapt and choose slightly different lines on the track. A bit of a rethink.

At the beginning of the weekend, things went very promisingly for Lennox Lehmann. Finally the knot burst in the Superpole. After last year’s Superpole sessions did not go well for the KTM rider and Lennox always had to start from the back of the grid, things went more than well in Assen. In wet conditions, Lennox Lehmann kept a cool head and set a fabulous time. At the end of Superpole, it was second place on the grid for the rider from the Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing Team. Finally, it was not time to roll up the field from behind. At last it was not a case of fighting for position after position. Second place on the grid was a more than promising starting position.

In the two races on Saturday and Sunday it looked completely different. After a great start and great duels, Lennox Lehmann crashed at the beginning of each race with a highsider.

A small moment of carelessness is enough, a moment in which you are only a passenger. Fortunately, everything went smoothly for Lennox Lehmann. No major injuries. Only bruises. Physically, everything is okay. Mistakes happen. Now it’s time to look ahead. To Barcelona, because there the cards are reshuffled again and a new chance exists for a good performance also in the races.
